Thinking of the late Anthony Bourdain’s quote: “ I love Detroit. I think it’s beautiful. I think it’s one of the most beautiful cities in America—still. The same incompetence and neglect that led to its current state of affairs has, at least, left us with a cityscape that even now, taunts us with the memories of our once outsized dreams… … Detroit looks like nowhere else. Detroit looks like motherfuckin’ Detroit. As it should. I’ll say it again. And again. I love Detroit. I love Detroiters. You’ve got to have a sense of humor to live in a city so relentlessly fucked. You’ve got to be tough—and occasionally even devious. And Detroiters are funny, tough—and supreme improvisers.” RIP, Sir, a treasure.
Thanks for the support for downloading and buying much of my music, and your support of musicians, painters, poets, writers, dancers, chefs, artists, everywhere.

Detroit Music Award 2016 for Outstanding Rock Songwriter
Gracious spoke and set my wheels on fire! We have a full band performance in Detroit’s Corktown at PJ’s Lager House, Friday night, May 25th. Starting a full moon Memorial Day weekend with new music and raucous big jams in a soulful night of high energy, The Caroiyn Striho Group returns to a favorite in Detroit, PJ’s Lager House. http://pjslagerhouse.com/about/
And many thanks for the fresh nomination for 2018 Outstanding Rock Vocalist of the Year in the Detroit Music Awards – with writing the new album and teaching, I’ve also been promising a book, which is still on the horizon – could be the end of the year. I’ve been going over poems, lyrics, and longer stories I’ve written. For the album, the newest songs are a return to a sort of rootsy rock and roll but also a baroque gypsy classical twist in spots with a little bit of heavy rock and jazz – it looks like several surprises. There’s some really cool shows coming up, too, in Detroit and up in northern Michigan, and we’ll be overseas on a return U.K. trip for festival gigs at Isle of Wight and London. Updates on summer gigs soon-including the return of Detroit Unplugged’s Triple Goddess Night ! in the meantime, summer is supposed to really be on its way and if you’re in the Detroit area, see you at PJ’S Lager House in Corktown Friday night May 25th – looking for you xo
Great news on a new tour and new return to England again in July for the Rhythmtree Festival and several other dates! This is the 7th tour in Europe, and looking forward to it! https://www.rhythmtree.co.uk/
And thanks for the brand new nomination for Outstanding Rock Vocalist in the 2018 Detroit Music Awards, and the many awards and nominations in the past years. We’re starting recording as I’m writing new material and the lyric/poetry and sneak preview book should finally be out at the end of the year, too. Some other surprises are also coming up, I hear 🙂
Also, local shows are being added in Detroit at PJ’s Lager House, Tony V’s Tavern, Stray Cat and hopefully bringing Detroit Unplugged back to 20 Front Street and Otus Supply while my band and I are appearing at several outstate festivals, too.
On Record Store Day Saturday April 21st, I’ll be on the radio manning the music for a radio show in Plymouth, Michigan, and in June, I’ll be back on the air doing a show at WPHS 89.1 FM Warren, then onto Ferndale 100.7 Ferndale Radio inside the Rustbelt Market http://ferndaleradio.com/ I used to be a DJ on NPR Detroit’s WDET-FM 101.9 doing the infamous show “Radios in Motion,” so I’m looking forward to a bit of a return to the DJ booth at several area radio stations!
Love and peace, Carolyn www.reverbnation.com/carolynstriho
