July Music!

Celebrating 10 years cancer free. It’s been a long road and I’m thankful to have made it this far. Appreciating just being right now. Love and hope – and to your health!

We had quite a fantastic June, with many shows, and I have to say they were great. From the west side of Michigan at Trinity House Theatre, to the Farmington Art on the Grand Bookfest, to Schulers Books aWest Bloomfield and  to the east side to St. Clair Shores Lit Fest on the Lake, back to Detroit’s Cadieux Café with The Orbitsuns, and way out northwest in Grand Rapids Michigan at The Pyramid Scheme with Women in Rock, too. Wow!

And we’re happy to hear that our new song with Erin Zindle and Carolyn Striho “The Bridge” is being played on radio throughout Michigan in Detroit, Metro Detroit, Dearborn, Ann Arbor, Traverse City and Toledo, Ohio. Check it out on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music and Amazon – Erin and I had a good time writing and recording it, and it sounds quite sweet out in the world now! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AdqNc5CQ5I

Scott Dailey and I with our band are in the mixing/mastering stage of 5 new tracks – with a few more on the way, too. We’ll start releasing new singles later this year.

The Women of Rock show was a huge success and such a great live show (and super time collaborating – and what a crowd!  Thanks to Crooked Tree Creative and all the marvelous musicians we had together 😉

In July, we’ll be playing again with Erin Zindle at The Rumpus Room in Chelsea, Michigan, debuting our new song “The Bridge” with a set from each of us. That’s Friday night, July 7th at 8 pm https://www.therumpusroomchelsea.com

And another big show is coming up! We are playing two sets with our full band on Thursday, 7/27 at the beautiful and classy Whitney mansion in Midtown Detroit! This is the Whitney Garden Party, and we are so happy to be back at The Whitney.  Gates open at 5p, sets at 6p and 7:30p. If you want guaranteed seating, please get tickets in advance. https://www.thewhitney.com/events/The-Garden-Party

With our new music releases slated for this year, stay in touch, and please have a Happy 4th of July. Thanks for listening, downloading, and buying and supporting new music Detroit and Michigan USA

Beautiful November!

The Carolyn Striho Group is performing with The Orbitsuns on Saturday night, November 19th the weekend before Thanksgiving at The Cadieux Café in Detroit. With Scott Dailey, Todd Glass and John Barron rounding up the band that night, we’ll be performing new songs and many from my catalogue and surprise favorites. The Orbitsuns will follow up with a great set, too! Let’s celebrate November at The Cadieux Café where our shows with The Orbitsuns started in 2019. And it’s my birthday month, hurray. More details at http://www.cadieuxcafe.com

And my music fill be featured on WRIF Detroit’s Motor City Riffs on Sunday night, November 13 2022 at 9 pm EST. Tune in to hear The Carolyn Striho Group on 101 FM WRIF here at https://wrif.com/shows/motor-city-riffs/

Thanks also for the airplay on WDET-FM/NPR Detroit and on WHFR Dearborn – appreciated!

We performed at the Detroit Free Press Marathon in October to cheer the runners in October on a big morning in Detroit and Windsor, Canada. And I performed at a gorgeous wedding in Detroit in September.

The new recordings are coming soon as I’m working on 4 more songs to add to the album and finishing storyboarding a new video. Then there is the book and some new readings and working on another book. My songs have been on 3 compilation albums in the last 4 years in the U.S. and the U.K., and “Afterthought” was also included in a feature film, “Poor Greg Drowning.”

Upcoming is the single release will be coming for “I Will Rise,” then the EP/album with another couple of surprise releases with Erin Zindle (from Erin & The Ragbirds) and a new Striho/Detroit Energy Asylum release on Orchide Records – stay tuned and thanks for being patient!

Steady as she goes, wild leaves and trees ablaze. To November nirvana dark nights and new bells…let’s go.

Love,

Carolyn x

Wintering

Happy Winter! We’ve been invited to do several shows this year at fantastic venues. And I haven’t written in some time for my blog. There has been energy moving this year for recording, teaching and bigger optimism suddenly. With very cold weather and some bigger snow in February, March could be cold but bringing it on to Spring. It has not been easy these past 2 years and we have all been through quite a bit of traumatic times, but also good times. I’m not losing sight to be grateful, but sometimes I wonder! To keep going is the main thing x

Holiday Hope

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

It’s been one tough year again, but I’m really grateful today for our gigs and music this year. I’m also grateful for the Grammy Awards First Ballot nomination for my audiobook “Detroit (Maiden Energy”) for Best Spoken Word Album 2022. I’ve met so many singers, musicians and authors, and we did travel a bit for the book, too. And I am excited to be back on recording a new album with my husband and guitarist/songwriter Scott Dailey.

We lost some incredible people this year however, including my friend and promoter Pete Holden in the U.K. at the Isle of Wight Rhythmtree Festival. Rest In Peace, Pete.

2022 will bring some new music releases and also, from the way back catalogue of goodies!

So here’s to a better year, and for more compassion, peace and good health,

Happy New Year x

Love,

Carolyn 12.25.21
