Summer’s Move to Fall

We are back soon with live shows, mainly concentrating on releasing the new music this year. Stay tuned! We’ll have each song on all digital platforms, culminating in an album next year, and new tour. In the meantime, I’m back to teaching and writing, and we’re also working on video. After a big trip to northern Italy, the Adriatic Sea, The Alps and even Austria for a day, we’re busy in a creative streak to get the music out – hurray! It was a great summer of shows, with new ones on their way later this Fall with the new releases. We’ve had some good airplay throughout the State and region, too. Thank you x

Also, there’s a new album coming out that features the band I was in for many years with tremendous musicians – it’s Detroit Energy Asylum! “Landslide of Life” is a thrilling and spirited album. With a nice production job by Freddie Brooks, my ex, it’s got 10 songs you must hear. There is also a great cover of Iggy’s “I Need Somebody” So please check Detroit Energy Asylum on Bandcamp for the new album. Here’s a good link and it’s worth it 🙂 https://orchide.bandcamp.com

It has been a wild August, and we’re returning to the studio for final mixes and the stage later in Fall after visiting northern Italy. (We’ll be back over there to perform again). Very grateful, and see you in September !

Love,
Carolyn, Scott and the band )

July rushing river to August

This Thursday, July 27, 2023, we are playing one of our favorite places, The Whitney at the Whitney Garden Party mansion in Detroit! We are excited to be back at this gorgeous castle with new music, delicious lobster rolls and so much great dishes, drinks, the garden, and even a ghost bar inside! We’ll be playing on the beautiful patio after many great Spring and Summer shows. https://www.thewhitney.com/the-garden-party. https://visitdetroit.com/inside-the-d/whitney-garden-parties/

July 27th is also my late dad’s birthday and another special day for me on July 26th with a 10 year cancer free journey after having breast cancer in 2013 , too.

There’s a new album coming out that features the band I was in for many years, and my songs and my voice and keyboards, with amazing musicians from my former band Detroit Energy Asylum. Detroit Energy Asylum’s “Landslide of Life” is a heartening, thrilling and spirited album and I hope you might check it out. With a nice production job by Freddie Brooks, my ex, it’s got 10 songs you have to hear. There is also a great cover of Iggy’s “I Need Somebody” and much music with Dave McMurray on saxophone and a slew of great musicians. I was lucky to spend some time at Dave’s great gig at Third Man Records Cass Corridor Detroit for Concert of Colors and Blue Note Records in July with Don Was and crew. What a great night! So please check Detroit Energy Asylum on Bandcamp for the new album. The pre-sale link is coming in early August on Bandcamp, too.

I also am honored about having new songs to share with you soon! We had anticipated summer, but the songs will be released this Fall into the end of the year, both as singles and an album. Stay tuned for my new songs with Scott Dailey, and the band. 🙂 Scott and I are excited to release new music this year. It’s really happening!

Happy August,

Love and hope,

Carolyn xx

February dreaming…

It’s snowing hard and there’s good news that the new album is coming out this year! Last year had marvelous shows and my December blog named a few of the great ones. This year, we’ve got some gems coming up. In fact, we have some bookings already for 2024, not just 2023 (!) I’m also doing more Book Event shows for my book “Detroit (Maiden Energy).”

We’ve got many new songs and Scott Dailey and I have been writing and recording music that has taken us on a wild, fantastic journey. Also, this year is another Orchide Records Detroit release of my former band Detroit Energy Asylum. It’s a new album of some of my never-heard before songs and a maze of energy music.

As mentioned last month, good news here, too, with Los Angeles’ famous Music Connection magazine naming the Carolyn Striho/Scott Dailey duo as one of the Hot 100 Live Unsigned Bands nationally for 2023 as well! https://www.musicconnection.com/hot-100-live-unsigned-artists-bands-2/

Also, I’ve been included in a new book, “Hit Girls:  Hit Girls: Women in Punk in the USA 1978-1983” “ by Jen Larson which spotlights female musicians who were as important to the early punk scene as male musicians. I’m featured in five pages also with my band The Cubes and several other Detroit bands, as well as great bands from all through the U.S., and honored to have contributed. It’s a reminder that this important music started from the soul of so many young teenage girls like me. Hit Girls is at https://bookshop.org/p/books/hit-girls-women-of-punk-in-the-usa-1975-1983-jen-b-larson/17273216?ean=9781627311236

This is a short blog as we’re readying so much material and working hard on it. Can’t wait for you to hear our new music, so please stay tuned.

xx

Love,

Carolyn
