October and The Grammys(R)!

Great news! Our new song “The Bridge” is on the first round of voting in The Grammy Awards(R) Ballot for Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance! Released in June 2023, “The Bridge” was written, sang and performed by Erin Zindle and Carolyn Striho.Thank you to Geoff Michaels for engineering at Big Sky Recording in Ann Arbor Michigan, where we recorded the song in spring 2023. Thank you to Jamie Candiloro for mixing and to Greg Calbi/Sterling Sound for the mastering. Artwork and lyric video by Erin Zindle. You can hear it here on Youtube or just click this link or the Hearnow: https://carolynstrihoanderinzindle.hearnow.com

Scott Dailey and I have been wrapped up with mixing the songs and working and teaching and we are getting ready to release the singles soon. Being mastered by Third Man Records Cass Corridor Detroit, they are almost ready!

We also were grateful to travel back to Europe, this time again to Italy, with cousins who live in Trieste and near Slovenia. We have played in Europe on seven tours and am honored to have played Donne in Musica, Rome, Frascati and Fiuggi, and also, in the U.K. several times in London and Isle of Wight and in Japan.

We also had a great summer of shows throughout Detroit, Metro Detroit, Grand Rapids and near Ann Arbor.

I’ve got some new shows to talk about soon, and one is from a reading/music show with my book at The Mount Clemens Public Library, in downtown Mount Clemens, Michigan on Saturday, October 14th, at noon. This is a really cool new Library and the show will feature poetry and also some new music I’m doing. Details here https://events.getlocalhop.com/author-visit-carolyn-striho/event/9hJFmgwAfM/

And thanks for the airplay on WDET-FM NPR Detroit, KLT The Rock Station in Traverse City, Michigan, Ann Arbor’s 107.1 FM’s Tree Town Sound and WHFR-FM Dearborn Michigan as we continue to hear new music on the radio from our previous and new recordings from us, including Detroit Energy Asylum, Carolyn Striho & Scott Dailey, and Erin Zindle and me for our new song.

There’s also a new album out that features the band I was in for many years, Detroit Energy Asylum. Detroit Energy Asylum’s “Landslide of Life” is a heartfelt, spirited album and I hope you might check it. With a stellar production job by Freddie Brooks, it contains ten songs, nine of which I wrote or co-wrote and with a cover of Iggy’s “I Need Somebody.” I’m on lead vocals, piano and rhythm guitar with Dave McMurray on saxophone, Luis Resto on keyboards and our wonderful cast of great musicians, including Jervonny Collier on bass, Vinnie Dombroski on drums, Randy Jacobs and Joey Mazzola on guitar and more. Here is the link to Bandcamp – https://orchide.bandcamp.com/

Thank you for listening, and I’m happy to be releasing the new music soon…it’s really coming, along with several Fall shows, too, that feel different. It’s amost as though a strange, new enlightenment is coming together.

Love,

Carolyn & Scott x

Summer’s Move to Fall

We are back soon with live shows, mainly concentrating on releasing the new music this year. Stay tuned! We’ll have each song on all digital platforms, culminating in an album next year, and new tour. In the meantime, I’m back to teaching and writing, and we’re also working on video. After a big trip to northern Italy, the Adriatic Sea, The Alps and even Austria for a day, we’re busy in a creative streak to get the music out – hurray! It was a great summer of shows, with new ones on their way later this Fall with the new releases. We’ve had some good airplay throughout the State and region, too. Thank you x

Also, there’s a new album coming out that features the band I was in for many years with tremendous musicians – it’s Detroit Energy Asylum! “Landslide of Life” is a thrilling and spirited album. With a nice production job by Freddie Brooks, my ex, it’s got 10 songs you must hear. There is also a great cover of Iggy’s “I Need Somebody” So please check Detroit Energy Asylum on Bandcamp for the new album. Here’s a good link and it’s worth it 🙂 https://orchide.bandcamp.com

It has been a wild August, and we’re returning to the studio for final mixes and the stage later in Fall after visiting northern Italy. (We’ll be back over there to perform again). Very grateful, and see you in September !

Carolyn, Scott and the band )

July rushing river to August

We are excited to be back at this gorgeous castle with new music, delicious lobster rolls and so much great dishes, drinks, the garden, and even a ghost bar inside! We’ll be playing on the beautiful patio after many great Spring and Summer shows. https://www.thewhitney.com/the-garden-party. https://visitdetroit.com/inside-the-d/whitney-garden-parties/

July 27th is also my late dad’s birthday and another special day for me on July 26th with a 10 year cancer free journey after having breast cancer in 2013 , too.

There’s a new album coming out that features the band I was in for many years, and my songs and my voice and keyboards, with amazing musicians from my former band Detroit Energy Asylum. Detroit Energy Asylum’s “Landslide of Life” is a heartening, thrilling and spirited album and I hope you might check it out. With a nice production job by Freddie Brooks, my ex, it’s got 10 songs you have to hear. There is also a great cover of Iggy’s “I Need Somebody” and much music with Dave McMurray on saxophone and a slew of great musicians. I was lucky to spend some time at Dave’s great gig at Third Man Records Cass Corridor Detroit for Concert of Colors and Blue Note Records in July with Don Was and crew. What a great night! So please check Detroit Energy Asylum on Bandcamp for the new album. The pre-sale link is coming in early August on Bandcamp, too.

Stay tuned for my new songs with Scott Dailey, and the band. 🙂 Scott and I are excited to release new music this year. It’s really happening!

Happy August,

June 2023 is a Big Month!

It’s been quite a wild month already – and year – with the mixing stage to mastering going on now
for our new songs. And we’ve had great shows and Book Events this year already! From Berkley
Coffee to Third Man Records Detroit to Schuler Books and The Kickstart Book Event in
Farmington, Michigan, what a big Spring. And a new release from Erin Zindle (of The Ragbirds)
and me – “The Bridge”! Scott Dailey and me with our band also had a great show in Ann Arbor!

And Saturday night, June 17th, we’re at Trinity House Theatre with fabulously talented
singer/songwriters/musicians guitarist Mary McGuire, guitarist Scott Dailey and cellist
and guitarist Jason Charboneau. I’ll be on piano and guitar 🙂 Join us at Trinity House Theatre
in Livonia, Michigan at 8 pm.

Mary McGuire is a marvelous guitar player, singer and songwriter. Her songs shimmer onstage
and on her recordings. Scott Dailey is an amazing guitarist, singer and songwriter and a
delight to watch onstage. And Jason Charboneau’s dynamic cello playing and singer/songwriter on
guitar, too, is a treat. I’m honored to be on this bill on Father’s Day Weekend and a big night
before we all go out for summer gigs, and more. In fact, Jason is going out with the legendary
John Lodge from The Moody Blues. Mary has new songs and shows, and Scott and I and our band
– well, we’ll be releasing singles this year, culminating in an album while we perform all over Michigan!
